About Bookkeeping Calculator

BookkeepingCalculator.com is a free set of online calculators for the everyday sums that come up when you run a small business or keep the books: adding and removing GST, working out markup and margin, finding a break-even point, calculating depreciation, converting timesheet minutes to decimal hours and more.

Why this site exists

Most bookkeeping maths is not hard, but it is easy to get wrong when you are busy. Dividing by 11 instead of multiplying by 10%, mixing up markup with margin, or forgetting which depreciation method you used last year are the kinds of slips that cost time later. This site puts each of those calculations on its own page, with the formula shown and a worked example, so you can check the answer rather than just trust it.

Who it is for

The calculators are written with Australian sole traders, small business owners, bookkeepers and students in mind. There are also GST, VAT and sales tax calculators for New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada, India, Singapore, South Africa and the United States.

How the calculators work

How the site is funded

The site is independent and is supported by advertising, which is what keeps the calculators free. Advertisers have no say over the calculators or the content.

A note on advice
